What we believe.
"The act of defending any of the cardinal virtues has today all the exhilaration of a vice" (G.K. Chesterton)
We have no doctrine of our own -
possessing only the doctrine
of the Church Catholic.
That is to say we have not imposed doctrine
onto the teachings of the early,
undivided Christian church.
We affirm the Holy Scriptures of
the Old and New Testaments
as the Word of God written;
the Apostles, Nicene and
Athanasian Creeds;
the Book of Common Prayer and
Ordinal as a theological norm;
the 39 Articles of Religion;
the Lambeth Quadrilateral
and the Affirmation of St. Louis as reliable
and reasonable outgrowth
for theological guidance and interpretation.
We acknowledge that rule of faith laid down
by St. Vincent of Lerins:
"Let us hold that which has been believed
everywhere, always, and by all",
for that is truly and properly catholic.
We understand the persistence of sin,
and we are mindful of the
tragic consequences of Marx, Freud,
and Nietzsche on our culture.
We live the Sacramental life and the
"faith once delivered"(Jude 1:3),
and fulfill to the best of our ability
Jesus Christ's Great Commission to
take the good news to all nations:
"Go ye therefore and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father,
and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost, teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you. And lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world." Amen.
