Why a traditional church in contemporary times?
"Jesus Christ the same yesterday, today, and forever".
Heb. 13:8, KJV
What do we mean by 'tradition'? In 1665 Jeremy Taylor explained it this way:
"We have the Word of God, the Faith of the Apostles,
the Creeds of the Primitive Church, the Articles of the four first General Councils,
a holy liturgy, excellent prayers, perfect Sacraments, faith and repentance,
the Ten Commandments, and the sermons of Christ,
and all the precepts and councils of the Gospel.
We speak honorably of His most Holy Name;
worship him at the mention of His Name; confess His attributes;
love his servants; pray for all men; love all Christians, even our most erring brethren".
"For we have lost the substance, and dwell too much in opinion."
William Laud on the gallows, 1645
Tradition offers "patience during historical turbulence" and teaching grounded
in the consensus of the early church. Teaching that is being lost amid a flurry of secularism
and new age trendiness leading people to lose touch with centuries of Christian
experience and wisdom. Tradition is the ongoing testimony to the outpouring of grace,
through the Holy Ghost, to God's people - Jesus' promise to us: "I will be with you alway."
"There is no life that is not in community. And no community not lived in praise of God."
T. S. Eliot
Our church offers your family a place to grow in spirit and knowledge and learn and understand the message
of Jesus Christ. Traditional Christianity has been embraced by generations
of diverse cultures yet bringing all together in the unity of the Holy Spirit
and love of God through Jesus Christ our Lord. You too can be a part of Christ's living Church.
Therefore, brethren, stand fast and hold to the traditions which ye have been taught,
whether by word or our epistle.
2 Thes. 2:15, 3:6
The substitution of "relevance" in lieu of faith has caused a major exodus of the faithful from many denominations.
43 million people a month frequent "house" churches searching for an encounter with God.
You have a place to learn the classic Christian truths rather than having to adopt every new idea and unproven theory.
Come and see.
